Eligible PhD students have access to the Doctoral Colloquium Award.
Outstanding Reviewer Award – Professor Ana Maria Rodrigues
The Outstanding Reviewer Award recognises service excellence among peers. This award bears the name of Professor Ana Maria Rodrigues, the late Grudis member who distinguished herself for her selfless sense of service to the Grudis and wider accounting community. Winners receive a certificate in acknowledgement of their exceptional service to the review process.
The award is decided by the Standing Scientific Committee.
Outstanding Paper Award – Professor Lúcia Lima Rodrigues
The Outstanding Paper Award recognises conference papers that stand out for their excellence among peers. This award bears the name of Professor Lúcia Lima Rodrigues, the late Grudis member who distinguished herself for the outstanding contribution to accounting research through numerous and well-cited publications in leading journals. Winners receive a certificate in acknowledgement of the quality of their research.
The award is decided in a two-stage process that entails reviewers’ recommendations and a nomination by an independent panel. All conference papers are eligible.
Accounting and Management Review (AMR) Best Paper Award
The AMR Best paper Award recognises research papers presented during the Grudis Annual Conference whose authors explicitly indicate willingness to publish the work in the Accounting and Management Review. Winners of the AMR Award will receive a certificate and a €500 prize in recognition of the quality of their research.
This award is exclusively available to papers whose authors explicitly self-nominated for consideration. During the submission process (via EasyChair), authors will be prompted to indicate if they wish to be considered for the AMR Best Paper Award, confirming their willingness to publish their work in the Accounting and Management Review. The Award is informed by reviewers’ recommendations and requires submission of the paper for publication in the Accounting and Management Review.
Please refer to the Regulation AMR Best Papers Award for further details on the AMR Award.
Research projects submitted to the Grudis Doctoral Colloquium may participate, upon indication of authors and eligibility, in a selection process under the Grudis-EAA partnership agreement, which offers the following exclusive benefits for selected doctoral students:
The Scientific Committee selects (up to) three awardees for the Doctoral Colloquium Award.
Manuscripts can be submitted in English or Portuguese, with presentations and discussions being conducted in the language the paper is written.
The submission of the manuscripts is via EasyChair. This will require the submitting author to register on the EasyChair platform, to name the co-authors, and to submit a PDF file. This file needs to meet the following criteria:
Following the EasyChair submission, a copy of the full paper, including identification of the authors and their affiliation, should be sent to the conference email conference@grudis.pt. This step serves two purposes: (i) it allows the Organising Committee to make a copy of the paper available to registered participants ahead of the conference, and (ii) it provides the information required for inclusion in the Conference Booklet (see example from the XXV edition here, page 42).
All submissions – conference papers and PhD projects – will undergo a double-blind review process conducted by the Scientific Committee.
The submission deadline is 1 October 2026.
Submitting authors will be notified of the outcome of their submission by the end of October 2026.
Papers from all areas of accounting and drawing on all research methods are welcomed. In particular, we welcome papers focusing on issues in Auditing, Accounting Education, Financial Analysis, Financial Reporting, Accounting and Governance, History, Interdisciplinary/Critical, Accounting and Information Systems, Management Accounting, Public Sector Accounting & Not-For-Profit Accounting, Social and Environmental Accounting & Ethical Issues in Accounting, and Taxation. We also welcome all research method approaches, including Analytical/Modelling, Conceptual Development/Interpretative/Historical, Case/Field Study, Empirical Archival, Experimental, and Survey.
Authors should not submit papers presented at a previous Grudis Conference. Only in exceptional circumstances will a second presentation be permitted, and subject to fundamental changes having been made to the paper.
Authors are required to indicate through EasyChair if they wish to be considered for the AMR Award, which results from partnership between Grudis and the Order of Certified Accountants (OCC). For more details, see conference awards under the Program above.
As noted above, the abstracts of all accepted papers, together with authors’ names and affiliations, will feature in the Conference Booklet.
Accepted papers will have a discussant. In reciprocating the benefit of receiving a discussion of their paper, by registering for the conference participants agree to serve as a discussant for one paper within their area of interest (if requested by the Organizing Committee).
The acceptance of papers becomes final only after completing the registration of the presenting author, up to two weeks after notification of acceptance (see also Key Dates, under Registration). Each author may present only one paper. Co-authorship of additional accepted papers is permitted without restriction, provided each accepted paper is presented and registered for by at least one co-author.

Among the most iconic landmarks is the Clérigos Tower, an 18th-century Baroque masterpiece that offers breathtaking panoramic views over the city. Livraria Lello is a historic (1906) library, beautifully designed, and known as one of the most impressive bookstores in the world.
Nearby, the Porto Cathedral (Sé do Porto) stands as one of the city’s oldest monuments, combining Romanesque, Gothic and Baroque elements and overlooking the historic centre. The São Bento Railway Station is another must-see site, famous for its impressive panels of traditional Portuguese azulejo tiles depicting scenes from the country’s history.
Crossing the Douro River, the majestic Dom Luís I Bridge connects Porto to Vila Nova de Gaia and provides one of the most striking views of the riverside landscape. Visitors should also explore the Church of São Francisco, renowned for its richly gilded Baroque interior, and the Palácio da Bolsa, a 19th-century neoclassical building celebrated for its magnificent Arab Room.
